Within this site you will find artists working in Melbourne, Australia and temporary, visiting residenct artists from international locations experiencing the bush.
Current exhibition coming up is Kaye Mahoney from New York who's diaphonous works are also produced (with her husband, Scott Hull) into digitized versions of the making of the work; painstakingly photograhing every stroke of paint and animated to reveal a most extraordiary meditation. The exhibition will open on March 15, 2009 and is operating throughout the Castlemaine State Festival http:/www.castlemainefestival.com.au/
The site is owned and run by Samantha Meadmore who's career as an artist is over 25 years of exhibiting both in Ausrtralia and NY. Her other researches over the past 10 years have been in organic agriculture and have lead to her producing the childrens books, in conjunction with her husband Michael Jewel, now available for download as ebooks under the Global Warming and climate change link. These books are for early primary to late primary age children and are intended primarily to get the information out regarding the simple solutions available to involve children in the future of their planet. We hope you enjoy the site!
A further book covering the research and intended for more adult solutions will be out shortly. We would appreciate your feed back.
Samantha Meadmore's section of the site encompasses a retrospective of over 25 years of work showing an evolution from traditional figurative and commission based portrait busts to her recent gestural works in glass, bronze and marble. Samantha has always taken inspiration from contemporary dance having studied it as am 18 year old in NY in the 80's when cutting edge was in its heyday in Manhattan. Still finding great line and sculptural context, she regularly attends dance performances to continue this love of movement and colour. Her greatest influences have been Rodin and Matisse.
