REVIEW

On Saturday 18th October at 3.00 pm Gallery Infinart proudly launched an International Artist run space and studio complex.

Uniquely positioned in the Victorian Countryside on the outskirts of Bendigo, the gallery offers an
extensive range of facilities combining a studio complex that facilitates differing artistic disciplines including: Painting, Marble Carving, Welding, Woodwork, Slump Glass as well as forging and Black smithery.
This space is available for International Artist residencies and their collated exhibits in collaboration with their supporting foundations.
The gallery was honoured with a wonderful opening by the artist, writer and philanthropist, William Kelly who had this to say:

Godwin Bradbeer and Peter Schipperheyn are amongst the foremost artists working in Australia today with Bradbeer clearly one our most remarkable draughtsman and Schipperheyn one of our leading sculptors.

This is a major exhibition for a commercial gallery and one that is especially significant in that it is being held, not in a metropolitan gallery, but in one of regional Victoria’s most innovative newer spaces. Infinart has provided us with a unique opportunity to see the work of these two great figurative artists in “dialogue” with each other and to consider the authority that their art brings to the discussion on humanism and to the place of figurative art in contemporary Australian culture.

At the launch, Gallery Infinart is also proud to present Peter Schipperheyn’s collection of works involved in creation of his monumental work Zarathustra,

commissioned by the Dame Elizabeth Sculpture Foundation for the McClelland Sculpture Parks permanent collection,, as well as current marble carving of “Do you hear me my love” His exhibits will include works on paper, video presentations as well as chosen sculpture pieces.
Joining Peter, is his friend and colleague -the much celebrated draughtsman, Godwin Bradbeer, winner of many national prizes and included in all the nations’ premier collections. Godwin’s series of enormous floating meditative heads dark and ethereal speak across the gallery space to Shipperheyn’s sublime white marble of those thoughts and feelings that lie deep in our humanity.

The gallery is a private artist studio, owned and run by practising artists who use the studio space whilst running and mannig the 2-3 exhibitions a year they elect to put on.
